As the Managing Director and Chairperson at Shahi, Harish Ahuja has propelled the company
to become India’s largest exporter of ready-made garments. Shahi has been scaling newer
heights year after year since its inception in 1974. The company has over 50 factories across 8
Indian states and employs nearly 100,000 people. The company was founded by his mother,
Sarla Ahuja, who started her journey as a sewing machine operator in a factory.
A Delhi University Alumnus, Harish has spearheaded the business into vertical integration,
establishing three textile mills. He drives and embodies the spirit of Shahi’s responsible and
ethical business standards through his vision for worker-wellbeing and sustainability. He has
also led key partnerships with Government Initiatives like the ‘Skill India Mission’ to
accelerate female labor participation, for example, DDU- GKY, ISDS, OSEM, and PM-KVY.
He holds critical senior positions in Industry bodies like the Apparel Exports Promotion Council
(AEPC), the Garment Exporters Association, and is Chair of the FICCI Foreign Trade and Trade
Facilitation Committee.
Among others, he holds an avid interest in environmental conservation, spirituality, and
philanthropic initiatives in education and community welfare.
