Educator, Designer, and
Professor in Fashion Design with research on the focus of a sustainable
lifestyle promoting the era of secondhand clothing thrifting and the rise of
repair.
Currently as a professor in the Fashion Design Dept.
at NIFT Mumbai, Patricia's research, design, and teaching practices explore
participatory and transformation design to realize fashion as a strong tool for
sustainability in action, in lifestyle, and in the fashion business.
Patricia’s research and teaching practice draw on long-held design practices
that connect fashion’s relational ecological, social, economic, and cultural
dimensions. Engaging involved and transformative design practices, her work
shapes and contributes to the field of Fashion Design for Sustainability.
She focuses on understanding the design
processes, pattern making, and surface creation for fashion. Patricia’s work addresses contemporary society - how can sustainability
be compatible with the seemingly great demand of apparel consumers,
understanding Indian consumers' approach to sustainable fashion, and examining
connections between fast fashion and social and customary systems, in the
context of sustainability.
